/ About the project

Local Heroes: Albemarle Community Plot is a film about a South Manchester allotment project that supports residents in neighbouring areas through the distribution of fresh produce grown on site by volunteers.

Hilary Moules heads up the team. Every year, the volunteers grow in numbers, the plot grows in size, and the impact of their work reaches new corners of the community. This year, they’re donating fruit and veg to Withington Community Kitchen.

This story is about how we can make positive change when we look around and ask ourselves: How can I help?

Wilderness Studio spent the summer with Albemarle Community Plot and documented the planting, harvesting and distribution process. The challenge is great, and the efforts of the team greater still. But if there is one thing we can learn from the Albemarle collective, it’s that when we work together, we flourish.
